So, I was invited to join Quechup, a Friendster/MySpace type site. Okay. Why not?
When starting the account, you have the option of entering your e-mail address so that Quechup can access your address book and tell you if any of your contacts are on Quechup.
The site fails, however, to mention that they then send invitations to everyone in your address books. This includes all my professional contacts--all my bosses, my bosses' bosses, former co-workers, and potential future employers. I therefore, unkowingly invaded everyones' inboxes many times over.
In the 24 hours during which I was a member of Quechup, I received 2 "friend" requests from sexually-explict gropus. This then compunds the problem, as I am responsible for essentially advertising a sexually suggestive website to everyone I know.
I canceled my membership, and lit into them with a nasty e-mail.
I am sorry for any of you who I offended with my unknowing barrage of e-mails, and DO NOT join Quechup!
Please pass along my appologies to anyone who does not read my LJ but may be in my address books.
